Case 3:
Clinical history:

Forty-year-old woman, one-week history with symptoms of common cold, trismus, pain around right eye, right sided swelling in the neck, headache, and pain when turning the head. Ptosis of right eye. A CT of the neck was performed (Figure 1 A, B and C), and high-dose antibiotics were initiated. Because of suspicion of an abscess, the patient was operated with a lateral external approach from the right side. A new CT was performed two days after the first (Figure 2 A, B, C and D). She was discharged after a few days with continuing antibiotic treatment, but she was not well when seen two weeks later. She complained of voice changes with hoarseness, and she demonstrated ptosis and miosis of the right eye, as well as some paresis of the palate.
