President of ESHNR: Stephen Golding
ESHNR, like other subspecialty groups aims to advance knowledge, stimulate interest and promote research in the field of head and neck radiology. The Society has the great advantage that it represents a small interest group and therefore the membership tends to be in close communication and people in the Society tend to know each other. This gives the Society something of the atmosphere of a radiology visiting club.
The Society was founded in 1988 under the leadership of Professor Hermann Willbrand of Uppsala and since then scientific meetings have been held annually. The meeting venue is always handpicked and the arrangements are in the hands of a local organiser. Over the course of its history the Society has enjoyed some really attractive meeting venues.
The annual scientific meeting is of course our most important activity but the Society also facilitates exchanges between members through its website facilities. We also recognise excellence; prizes for the most outstanding oral and poster presentations are made at each annual meting and the Society awards both Honorary Memberships and a Lifetime Achievement Medal. We are also heavily involved in advice to the European Association on training, research and professional development issues and are now the most important channel for input to European strategy on Head and Neck Radiology.
Membership is open to any qualified individual with a significant contribution to head and neck imaging. Anyone interested in membership or wanting to learn more is very welcome to contact me.
